Venice Is Sinking

This cover is based on Catherine Bennett’s article Let Venice Sink. It serves as a commentary on society’s growing complacency toward the deterioration of both our environment and cultural history. The piece was particularly challenging, as I rarely illustrate architecture or aquatic life, and my personal experience visiting Venice,witnessing the effects of rising sea levels firsthand deeply informed the work. Despite the seriousness of the subject, I chose bright, vibrant coral and fish to create visual contrast and draw attention to their clear displacement within the alleyways of Venice.
